Paulsen

Principipal Investigators in the consortium

P03: PAULSEN, Martina (Saarbrücken, GERMANY)
Universität des Saarlandes, FR Genetik

Dr. M. Paulsen has a junior group leader position at the department since June 2001. Her lab is working on functional analysis of imprinting domains on mouse chromosomes 7 and 12. Before, she had postdoc positions at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Germany, and at the University of Cambridge, UK. The lab has profound experience in applied bioinformatics, analysis of gene expression and DNA methylation in mouse.

The team currently consists of a postdoc, two PhD students and a diploma student, all of them trained in molecular biology and DNA sequence analyses. The postdoc fellow Stephanie Barth adds experience in cell culture work. The PhD student Tarang Khare is currently establishing a transgenic mouse line, and the PhD student Sascha Tierling is working on the miRNA genes on chromosome 12.

The Universitaet des Saarlandes provides a unique environment for interdisciplinary research in life sciences. The biology section is specialised on human biology and molecular genetics. A hospital is associated with the univer-sity. A tight cooperation between biology, bioinformatics, medicine, pharmaceutics, chemistry, and physics is fo-cused on nanobiotechnology. Thereby, bioinformatic support and a great number of additional instruments, for example a fluorescence activated cell sorting system, are available on campus.
